Facet Technology Corp. is Awarded Two More United States Patents for Computer Vision Technology

EDEN PRAIRIE, MN, September 18, 2002— Facet Technology Corporation, a computer vision software and services company, announced today that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has issued two more patents relating to the company’s innovative computer vision software technology.

The “Multi-filter Object Search System” (US patent number 6,449,384) is the broadest-reaching patent issued to date for the company. Multi-filter technology enables new capabilities in the areas of Internet graphical searches, food processing and inspection, and database mining. It will become a very broadly used patent by the company and its licensees.

U.S. Patent #6,453,056 – “Generating a Database of Road Sign Images and Positions” – covers the essential elements of creating meaningful content from a series of tagged images. The patented techniques are applicable for service work performed for 3M Transportation Asset Management Services (TAMS) asset inventory projects.
