Centerline mapping with Facet is an easy and highly accurate process. As part of Facet’s Transportation and Mapping Services, data is collected from a Mobile360® vehicle traveling at standard road speeds. The vehicle captures highly accurate GPS data while traveling along defined routes.

Our GPS mapping system incorporates a high-end positioning system into the vehicle. The system uses inertial navigation, GPS, GPS azimuth measurement and a Distance Measurement Instrument, to provide position and orientation data that have a high bandwidth, excellent short-term accuracy and minimum long-term errors. It provides dynamically accurate, high-rate measurements of the full state of the vehicle.

Centerline mapping with GPS is essential in creating precise maps. Coupled with photo imagery you have a full asset management solution with a very high degree of accuracy and usability.
